This is the hefty denim from the Old World. Jeans today are made with a lighter weight indigo denim, but this is a full 12 oz. material that's as tough as nails. You won't find any sulfur or indigo dyes in here, just pure organic cotton with a gentle wash. With a standard 3X1 construction, the fabric is pre-washed and ready to go into your projects!

A little denim history: The name came from a town in France called 'Nimes', where the fabric was called serge de nemis; later shortened to just 'denim'. It was in the late-nineteenth century when Levi Strouss developed the 'indigo denim', and in the mid-twentieth century they became poplar with everyone from miners, to cowboys, to teenage kids. Showing their resilience to new fibers, constructions, and technology, cotton denim jeans are more popular than ever throughout the world.
